When Life Gives You Tangerines

  • Filming location

Gimnyeong Beach in Gujwa-eup, Jeju, a filming location for the 2025 Netflix drama 'When Life Gives You Tangerines.' Framed by black volcanic rock and emerald water, it is where the haenyeo diving scenes were shot. While the Hapcheon set recreates old Seoul streets, Jeju is the drama's main stage.

Fan spots

  • Gimnyeong Beach

    제주특별자치도 제주시 구좌읍 구좌해안로 237

The black basalt beach where the haenyeo diving scenes in Netflix's 2025 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' were filmed. In the two months after the show aired, the number of cars arriving here nearly doubled. The contrast between black rock and emerald water is exactly what the drama put on screen.

  • Geumneung Port

    제주특별자치도 제주시 한림읍 금능리

The harbour where the town counts down to the new millennium, and the slope Ae-sun and Gwan-sik hurry down in high spirits after a day of selling. Small boats work out of here, so nothing is tidied up like a set, and that clutter is exactly what the camera kept. It is ten minutes by car from Hallim Port, which puts both episode 14 locations in one trip.

  • Jeju Stone Park

    제주특별자치도 제주시 조천읍 남조로 2023

Where the episode 10 scene of young Ae-sun running along a stone-wall lane was filmed. Ground was broken in 1999 and the park opened in 2006 to gather Jeju's stone culture in one place, walls, tombs and 48 dolhareubang among it, so what stands here has been moved or recreated. It lays out what the drama drew on when it built its 1960s Jeju.

  • Hallim Port

    제주특별자치도 제주시 한림읍 한림해안로 192

The harbour where Ae-sun and Gwan-sik come to meet Eun-myeong off the deep-sea fishing boat in episode 14. Ferries to Biyangdo leave from here, so people and boats still move through it every day. The auction scene in episode 1 of 'Our Blues' was filmed at this same harbour.
