Welcome to Samdal-ri

  • Filming location

Dodubong, a small volcanic cone in Dodu-dong, Jeju, where JTBC's 2023 to 24 drama 'Welcome to Samdal-ri' was filmed. Scenes of the childhood of Cho Sam-dal and Cho Yong-pil, played by Shin Hye-sun and Ji Chang-wook, were shot here, and the summit lookout became a fan photo spot.

Fan spots

  • Dodubong

    제주특별자치도 제주시 도두항길 4-17 (도두일동)

The summit of this oreum is where young Sam-dal and Yong-pil sit side by side talking about their dreams in episode 1 of JTBC's 2023–24 'Welcome to Samdalri'. It lies northwest of Jeju International Airport, so from the top planes pass at eye level as they take off and land. The Jeju Tourism Organization made it the first stop on its 'Travel Along Welcome to Samdalri' route.

  • Sinchang Windmill Coastal Road

    제주특별자치도 제주시 한경면 한경해안로 485

The coastal road where Sam-dal realises Yong-pil's feelings have not changed. It runs about six kilometres from the offshore wind farm at Sinchang-ri to Chagwido harbour, with the white turbines standing out at sea the whole way. This is the western edge of Jeju, so arriving near sunset lets you watch the sun drop between the windmills.

  • Gimnyeong Beach

    제주특별자치도 제주시 구좌읍 구좌해안로 237

The beach where Sam-dal is urged by Yong-pil's father to let him go. Black basalt meets emerald water here, which is part of why the distance between the two of them reads so wide on screen. Jeju Olle Route 20 passes along this shore, so it can also be reached on foot as part of the walk.
