• Haenggung-dong Mural Village

  The Haenggung-dong alleys in Suwon that tvN's 2024 'Lovely Runner' picked to bring back the year 2008. This old quarter, spanning twelve neighbourhoods inside the Hwaseong fortress wall, still has low stone walls and dated shopfronts, so the period look came without building a set. Walk toward Hwahongmun and you pick up the paths Sol and Sun-jae keep crossing.

• Hwahongmun Gate

  Where Seon-jae confesses to Sol. To be exact, the scene is on the bridge crossing Suwoncheon stream just below the gate, and standing on it you hear the water falling through all seven sluices. Built in 1795, the gate was swept away entirely by the flood of 1922, and the people of Suwon formed a preservation society and pulled together to rebuild it by 1932. It was kept out of affection rather than obligation, which is not far from why people come to this bridge now.

• Banghwasuryujeong Pavilion

  경기도 수원시 팔달구 수원천로392번길 44-6 (매향동)

  A pavilion set on the high bluff just east of Hwahongmun, and the place where Seon-jae teaches Sol to ride a bicycle. Built in 1794 as a watchtower when the Hwaseong walls went up, its official name is Dongbuk Gangnu, but the view was so fine that it earned a second name meaning 'seeking flowers, following willows.' Its roof reads differently from every angle, which is why it is considered the most original structure in the fortress; it was designated a Treasure in 2011.

• Motgol Market

  경기도 수원시 팔달구 수원천로258번길 10-12 (지동)

  The market where Sol shops with her mother for her father's memorial table. The aisle where they bicker over fruit is unchanged, and because this is a working neighbourhood market rather than a tourist one, you can see where the drama's everyday texture came from. It is a fifteen-minute walk from Haenggung-dong.
