A filming location for the 1998 film 'Christmas in August' by director Hur Jin-ho. The 'Chowon Photo Studio,' a garage dressed up as a studio for the story of terminally ill photographer Jung-won (Han Suk-kyu) and Da-rim (Shim Eun-ha), was restored by Gunsan and opened to the public for free.

Hur Jin-ho's 1998 'Christmas in August' was shot in Gunsan's old downtown without building a set; the photo studio belonging to the terminally ill photographer Jung-won was a garage on this spot, dressed for the film. Gunsan City later restored it to its original state and has kept it open free of charge since 2013. The way people visit is simple: sit in the window seat from the film and take a picture.
