Balmae-ri on Docho Island in Sinan, the filming location of Lee Joon-ik's 2021 black-and-white film 'The Book of Fish'. Two thatched cottages were built on the hill to stage the years when the exiled scholar Jeong Yak-jeon recorded fish with the young fisherman Chang-dae, and they still stand there looking out to sea. Docho is known for its hydrangeas, so a June visit pairs the location with the flower trail.
